WHOM SHOULD I CONTACT?

Begin by contacting the Office of the Dean of the School of Business and Economics (118 Moore Hall, 252.335.3311). Either he will provide the answer or direct you to a source. The Dean's Office assigns academic faculty advisors to new and transfer students as soon as they declare a business major.

HOW ARE TRANSFER CREDITS EVALUATED?

First the ECSU Admissions Office determines which credits may be transferred to ECSU. Only 65 semester hours from a two-year college may be applied towards graduation.

Then the Division of General Studies determines which transfer courses fulfill general education credits.

The third step is an evaluation by the Dean of the School of Business and Economics to decide which transfer credits fulfill major requirements. Generally credits from two-year colleges may only substitute for Freshmen and Sophomore courses (course numbers beginning with "1" or "2")

WHAT COURSES ARE OFFERED THROUGH THE WEEKEND EVENING PROGRAM?

General Education courses are available through this program. In addition, the School of Business and Economics offers the the BSBA Core Requirements and Related Course Requirements in this program
(
click here to see the curriculum). Generally the four additional courses required for the Management Concentration are also offered in the Evening/Weekend College.

However courses for other BSBA concentrations are only infrequently offered at night or on weekends. Students desiring a concentration other than Management will probably have to take some day classes.

Accounting Major courses are ONLY available during the day only on the ECSU campus.

Few night or weekend courses are offered during the summer. Contact the Office of Summer School for details.

However Internet-based distance learning courses are available during the summer as well as during the regular semesters.

Click here for more information on distance learning.

SHOULD I CHOOSE A MINOR?

Most business students do not elect to minor. However students may choose a minor in another field. The courses required for the minor are treated as elective courses for the major.

Students may not minor in the same discipline as their major. For example, an accounting major may not minor in business because both are included within the business discipline.

Instead some students use their elective courses to complete more than one concentration within the BSBA degree or double major in Accounting and Business Administration. Click on "Accounting" and "curriculum" for details in a double major.
