Walter R. Davis
School of Business
and Economics
The
Walter R. Davis School of Business and Economics (SBE) offers two
degree programs:
- BS in Accounting
- BS in Business Administration with seven concentrations
Internships provide valuable work experience that both
contributes to resumes' and illustrates the concepts that they learn
in the classroom. Some internships in the local area provide
academic credits, others are paid summer internships, and through a
new program, some students will intern with startup businesses.
Students may participate in four student organizations associated
with SBE
- B.E. Scholars
- National Association of Black Accountants
- Phi Beta Lambda
- Students in Free Enterprise
The SBE also houses two centers. The Center for Economic
Education, directed by Ebere Oriaku, promotes economics in the
secondary schools. The Center for Entrepreneurship promotes small
business ownership through the participation of the director, Mr.
Bill Brown, in classrooms and through paid student internships with
successful entrepreneurs.
The SBE faulty is very diverse across race, sex, and national
origin. The international faculty provide a broad prospective that
is particularly relevant in today's global economy. The significant
percentage of faculty that are women and/or a member of a racial
minority provide encouraging role models for students. Perhaps of
even more significance is the fact that over half of the faculty
members have earned doctorate degrees. Also many of the faculty
members bring practical business experience into the classroom.
