Types of Internships

The Davis School sponsors two types of student internships: Kauffman Entrepreneurial Internships and unpaid internships. Usually internships are limited to students having Junior or Senior status. Most internships are part-time during the normal academic year but some summer internships are full-time.

All first-time internships through the Davis School carry three credit hours toward graduation (course BUAD-490 Internship) but students may enroll in the course only one time. Any additional internships will not qualify for academic credit.

Interns must provide for transportation to the job site. Most internships are located within commuting distance of the ECSU campus although some (primarily during the summer semester) may be located in distant cities.

Students wishing to qualify for an internship must arrange their class schedules to allow for significant blocks of time available for intern work (e.g. either schedule all academic classes on M/W/F or all classes on T/Th).

All internships, regardless of type, require essentially the same student reports and final project evaluation report. Half of the intern's grade on the internship comes from the mentor's evaluation of work performance while the other half results from strict timeliness and the intern's reports and final project.
