The Center for Special Needs Students is a unit of the Division of General Studies and functions as an academic support program designed to assist students with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. The program offers individual assessment of learning disabilities, provides academic assistance, encourages personal growth and development through a

professional staff and peer tutors, and assures disabled students equal access to programs and services.

The goal of the Center is to make the University accessible to all college students with disabilities.

Through the Center, individual tutoring is offered to help students improve study, test-taking, note taking, and outlining skills. The course syllabi, textbooks, handouts, reading lists, and assignment sheets are the main materials necessary to provide focus for the tutoring sessions. Learning disabled students are encouraged to use textbooks that might explain concepts in a simpler manner.
