RV Hawk

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recently donated a research vessel to the GEMS Department for its marine environmental science studies.  The boat will be used for teaching, field work, and faculty and student research.  The Hawk is a 29.5 foot open cruiser with cuddy cabin, powered by an onboard diesel engine.  Our coastal habitat studies, including submerged aquatic vegetation, water and biological monitoring of the Pasquotank River, and comprehensive study of the effect of the reverse osmosis plant in the river will be greatly enhanced with the arrival of this vessel.
