Resume
Hi, my name is Shanna
Chambliss and I am a sophomore at Elizabeth City State University majoring
in Marine Environmental Science with a concentration in Chemistry. I chose
to major in Marine Environmental Science because of my love for the environment
and fish. As I further my career I hope to make some major decisions that
will help better the environment. After receiving my undergraduate
degree in Marine Science, I plan to receive my Masters in Environmental
Science. My academic experience as a student and research assistant will
serve as a foundation for my professional career. In building my foundation
I have decided to try to participate in as many internships as possible.
During the spring semester of my freshman year I was a researcher for
the Dismal Swamp Research Project at my university. In this particular
project I took water samples from surrounding lakes in the Elizabeth City
area. For two months during my freshman year summer break I interned with
the U.S. Department of Energy. My project objective was to determine the
benefits of using a constructed wetland system to clean water being discharged
from the Naval Petroleum Reserve NO.3 located in Casper, Wyoming. Now
I am participating in the NOAA Environmental Enterpreneurship Program's
Remote Sensing Project at Elizabeth City State University. In this program
I am in the process of learning how to use TeraScan, a software edition
used in remote sensing education and research. Building my career foundation
is very important to me, so by participating in this NOAA Environmental
Entrepreneurship Project, maintaining a good G.P.A., and remaining open
minded, I will one day become a successful Marine Biologist.
