Elizabeth City State University The Geological,
Environmental, and Marine Sciences (GEMS) Club is an organization
open to all students of ECSU who are interested in the earth and the environment
around them. The main emphasis of the club is to educate students
and the community about the environment. The GEMS Club has undergone
recent changes in Fall 1998. The club has increased
its membership, increased its budget and increased activities. Meetings
are held every other Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Jenkins Science Center,
Room 325. Events sponsored by the club include a field trip each
semester to a location of geological interest, the annual homecoming Mr.
and Ms. GEMS Club award, social functions such as movie night, and bowling,
as well as fundraisers.
