The importance of GIS
  What is GIS?  GIS or Geographic Information Systems is a computer based system that can input, manage, manipulate, analyze, and output  (maps, tables, etc.)  georeferenced spatial data.  GIS is a powerful and versatile tool for handling spatial or locational data.  During the past three decades this powerful technology has quietly changed the way people view their life in their neighborhoods, towns, and cities.
