As a non-science major who attended the Savannah River trip, it was a very positive experience.  The trip served two purposes, as a learning experience.  I have always been interested in the environment and I felt that this would be a great chance for me to get some hands on experience.  I learned plenty of new things on the trip.  One of the most interesting things was that the SRS was used in the production of nuclear weapons during the Cold War.
