Uyless is a senior Majoring in Biology with a minor in biotechnology.  This is his second year working in the Environmental Lab.  Earlier projects included work with the chemistry and microbiology associated with dead end canals.  Uyless is an excellent presenter.  He finished in first place in the 1999 McNair Scholars Presentation.

His duties include:

• Determining the migration rates of E. coli, within soils.

• Correlating distances between septic lines and tanks with migration rates.

• Offer instructional assistance in microbiological testing procedures

• Analyzing the data to determine the safety of septic tank regulations provided by the Department of Health of Elizabeth City.
