
University Recycling
Program
On April 22, 1993, Governor Hunt signed Executive
Order No. 8, "State Government Recycling, Waste Reduction, and Purchase
of Products with Recycled Content." The purpose of Executive Order No.
8 is to maximize the efforts to reduce the amount of solid waste generated;
recycle materials recoverable from solid waste generated; and purchase
and use products made wholly or in part from recycled materials at state
government agencies and the University of North Carolina.
Elizabeth City State University provides a collection
program for recoverable materials, including aluminum cans, cardboard,
magazines, newspaper, and office paper. All campus departments are requested
to participate in the recycling collection program. If you require further

Waste Reduction Suggestions
Some suggestions to help reduce the amount of waste
generated in office areas include:

Make double-sided copies.

Use inter-office envelopes.

Re-use manila envelopes.
-
Re-use file folders.
-
Send envelope-less mail.
-
Use e-mail.
Recycling Collections
The University provides collection of the following
recoverable materials:

Office Paper (if it crosses your desk, it's recyclable)

Computer Paper
-
Cardboard (you break it down & dispose of the
packing materials)

Newspapers
-
Magazines
-
Telephone Books (Seasonal)

Aluminum Cans
The collection schedule for the recoverable materials
is as follows:

Monday - Aluminum Cans/Magazines/Newspapers

Tuesday - Office Paper/Computer Paper

Wednesday - Cardboard
-
Thursday - Aluminum Cans/Magazines/Newspapers

Friday - Aluminum Cans/Magazines/Newspapers
All collections are made between the hours on 8:30a.m.
and 11:30a.m. on the days indicated. If you require additional collections,
please contact Mr. Arthur Morris at telephone extension 3460.
Office Clean-up
Large recycling containers can be provided to assist
in office file clean-ups. These containers may be obtained by contacting
Ms. Elizabeth Linney at extension 3217 or e-mail ealinney@mail.ecsu.edu
or Mr. Arthur Morris at extension 3460.
