A native of Carrollton, Virginia, Tomisha Brock received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Virginia State University in 2005, and a Master of Music Education degree from Norfolk State University in 2011. She has also completed additional coursework at Capella University (2012), and is currently enrolled in the PhD in Music Education and Educational Research Methodology at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

Mrs. Brock began her teaching career in 2004, as an Elementary Music Teacher in Sussex County Public Schools, serving students at all three elementary schools within the county. In 2005, she assumed her first role as Director of Bands at Lakeland High School in Suffolk, VA. Mrs. Brock has also served as a middle and high school band director in Timmonsville, SC and Surry, VA. She served briefly as Choral Director at Marie G. Davis Military and Global Leadership Academy (Charlotte, NC) and as the Assistant Director of Bands at Livingstone College (Salisbury, NC), before becoming the Director of Bands at Elizabeth City State University.

As Director, Mrs. Brock leads the 150-member Marching Sound of Class, the Viking Pep Band, Woodwind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Symphonic Wind Ensemble. She also teaches Applied Clarinet, and other courses within the department.

In the community, Mrs. Brock serves as a Praxis II and Educational Consultant, assisting music education majors and current professionals with the tools necessary for success on teacher certification assessments. She is an honorary member of Tuba Phi Tuba Brass Fellowship, Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, and an active member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, and Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women. Mrs. Brock holds active and associate memberships in the Elizabeth City State University Alumni Association, Norfolk State University Alumni Association, and Virginia State University Alumni Association. She also holds professional memberships in the College Band Directors National Association, the National Association for Music Educators, NC Music Educators Association, NC Bandmasters Association, NC Showstyle Band Directors Association, Women Band Directors International, HBCU National Band Directors' Consortium, and the Intercollegiate Music Association.

Mrs. Brock is married to Mr. Joplin D. Brock, Assistant Director of Bands and a 2003 graduate of Elizabeth City State University. Together they have one daughter, Lakaiya.
