Department of Business Administration

The Business Administration Program of the Walter R. Davis School of Business Economics provides a transformational undergraduate education that prepares and develops our graduates for professional careers within the global community. The department offers a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, with one of four concentrations: Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing and Economics and Finance.

  • Management. Coursework focuses on organizational management skills and issues, operations management and entrepreneurship and prepares graduates for profit, not-for-profit and governmental management.

  • Marketing. You will learn about promotions, consumer behavior, retailing, branding and marketing management. While some graduates go directly to study for their MBA, with an undergraduate degree in business with a marketing focus, you will be prepared for a marketing career in consumer research, advertising, public relations, manufacturing, distribution, retail, wholesale, other service suppliers and a range of non-profits.

  • Management Information Systems (MIS). Study focuses on designing and understanding computer systems that help people and organizations function more effectively and efficiently. Strategic planning and ways to improve management and operational control systems are also discussed. You will study accounting, system design, database management and decision support systems.

  • Economics and Finance. You will learn more about the theories of economics and finance. This concentration will prepare you for careers in banking, government, corporate finance, private entities, and investment banking. Inclusive in the program objectives is the preparation for graduate study in business administration, economics, finance and related academic areas.
