Transfer Admissions Requirements

 
Elizabeth City State University welcomes transfer students who want to become a part of our Viking family. All applicants who have attended a post-secondary institution for any length of time since graduating high school are considered transfer students. Applicants must also meet all minimum transfer requirements. Transfer students will have their transcripts evaluated in relation to the requirements of the specific academic program for which they are applying.
 
Courses to be transferred must be equivalent to the respective courses in degree programs at ECSU. Courses graded less than a "C" will not be accepted for transfer credit. ECSU will only accept courses from a regionally accredited institution.
 

Applicants at the time of enrollment that have at least 24 transferable you must:

  • Submit an official college transcript(s) for all colleges attended or attempted coursework
  • Have a 2.00 cumulative college GPA from the last school attended

Applicants at the time of enrollment that have less than 24 transferable hours and under the age of 21 you must:

  • Submit official final high school transcript, official SAT/ACT test scores and have met the Minimum Admission Requirements (MARs) and Minimum Course requirements (MCRs):
  • Minimum Admission Requirements (MARs): 
    • Completed high school with at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA OR
    • 1010 SAT or ACT Composite 19
  • Minimum Course Requirements (MCRs) :
    • Four units of English
    • Four units of Math (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and an Advanced Math)
    • Three units of Science (Biological Science, Physical Science, and a Science with a Lab)
    • Two units of Social Studies, including one unit of US History
    • Two units of Foreign Language (same)
  • Submit an official college transcript(s) for all colleges attended or attempted coursework
  • Have a 2.00 cumulative College GPA from the last school attended

For applicants who have earned an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree, you must:

  • Submit an official college transcript(s) for all colleges attended or attempted coursework
  • Have a 2.00 cumulative College GPA from the last school attended

The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement enables North Carolina community college graduates of two-year Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degree programs who are admitted to constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina to transfer, having completed the general education core. Transfer students will be considered to have satisfied the UNC Minimum Course Requirements (MCR). Learn more about ECSU’s Transfer articulation agreements.
