The Department of Geological, Environmental, and Marine Sciences welcomes you to Elizabeth City State University. We offer two Baccalaurate degrees, one in Geology, and the other in Marine Evironmental Science. Supplementing these offerings are minors in Geology, Marine Science, Environmental Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing, and Public Health and Sanitation. Our graduates find employment in the Petroleum Industry, private industry and federal and state organizations such as the U.S. Geological Survey, Minerals Management Services, Bureau of Land Management, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Some also are now in teaching science and math in local schools here in North Carolina and Virginia. The curriculum offers a combination of classroom, hands-on and field experience. Many of our students participate in internships and cooperative programs during the summer, while others conduct research in the surrounding estauries, rivers and wetlands.
