Learning Outcomes and Assessment

The mission of the undergraduate program in computer science is to prepare students who are able to apply both analytical and practical computer science skills across diverse environments within a global society.  Our goal is to produce marketable students in an ever-changing and increasingly competitive technological world.

Outcome 1
Students will be able to apply principles of computing and mathematics appropriate to the discipline by using fundamental concepts of discrete mathematics, data structures and algorithms.

Outcome 2
Students will be able to analyze a problem, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution.

Outcome 3
Students will be able to design, implement, and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs.

Outcome 4
Students will be able to recognize professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities.

Outcome 5
Students will be able to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

Outcome 6
Students will be able to use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice in order to solve specific problems using an object-oriented, scripting, procedural, and non-procedural programming language.
