Department of Technology

Welcome to the Department of Technology at the Elizabeth City State University. The department offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology and Aviation Science. The students majoring in other disciplines can minor in any of these degree programs. The Bachelor of Science Degree programs are designed to prepare technical professionals for employment in industry, business, government, and education. Graduates of these programs will be prepared to seek careers in fields that apply principles and concepts from a variety of technical disciplines including Computer Networks, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Electronic and Computer Technology, and Mechanical and Automation Technology.

Mission Statement - Department of Technology

The Department of Technology is an academic unit within the School of Mathematics, Science and Technology, offering baccalaureate degree programs in Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology and Aviation Science.  The mission of the Department of Technology is to provide a quality education that prepares a diverse student body for rewarding professional career opportunities or graduate study in various fields including, engineering technology, industrial technology, aviation science and technical management.  The Department is committed to promoting excellence in teaching, research, services, and scholarly activities.

Industrial Technology:
The nationally accredited degree program in Industrial Technology offers specializations in Electronics and Computer Technology, Computer Networking Technology, and Mechanical and Manufacturing Technology. Curriculum includes courses in electronics, PC support, network communication, computer aided design, mechanical systems, thermal systems, fluids technology, and electromechanical controls. The BS degree program in Industrial Technology is accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE)

Mission Statement - Industrial Technology Program:

The Industrial Technology program prepares individuals as Industrial Technologists for professional responsibilities in the technical and management phase of industry, business, or government.  The program offers specializations and minors in "Computer and Electronics Technology", "Computer Networking Technology", and "Mechanical and Manufacturing Technology." The curriculum has been designed to provide comprehensive understanding of important technology areas along with hands-on experiences.

Aviation Science:
The degree program in Aviation Science offers specializations in Computer Science, Aviation Management, Avionics, Electronics, Public Administration, and Flight Education. Each of these concentrations of study is specifically designed to meet the requirements that have been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Curriculum includes courses with a rigorous blend of mathematics, science and technology, communications, computers, management organization and a thorough spectrum of aviation courses.
