Department of Military Science
Welcome to the Department of Military Science and United States Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) here on the campus of Elizabeth City State University. Our program prepares students to serve as officers and to have careers of service and success in the United States Army, Army Reserves and Army National Guard. Officers are the leaders of the Army during every aspect of a mission and are trained to make decisions quickly focusing on mission success. Officers lead from the front and adjust to environments that are always changing. To be an officer is to be respected as a Soldier, an inspiring leader and a servant of the nation.
Our goal is to commission Second Lieutenants into the Army and motivate them to be better citizens for life-long service to the nation and to help you accomplish your goals by providing top-notch leadership development, management training and experiences that will steer you toward a successful future. ROTC teaches you how to lead. It's one of the best leadership courses in the country, and it is a part of your college curriculum. Become a symbol of Strength!
As you negotiate the "Viking Battalion" website, you should be able to find most of the basic information regarding our program easily. However, if you have any additional questions about becoming an officer, ROTC Scholarships and benefits of the program, please e-mail, call or come by the Department of Military Science. The names, phone numbers, and email addresses of the Cadre and staff may be found on the Faculty & Staff link.
