Office of Sponsored Programs
Greetings! From the Office of Sponsored Programs, Contracts and Grants (SPCG). Our primary goal is to support Elizabeth City State University's (ECSU) research mission by assisting faculty, staff and students in the procurement of grants, contracts and cooperative agreements from external sponsors; promoting faculty involvement in domestic and international collaborations and research partnerships; administering the university's Title III/SAFRA Programs to strengthen its infrastructure; and ensuring that its privilege of receiving external support is protected. SPCG comprises the offices of pre-award, post-award non-financial, Title III/SAFRA, and research compliance.
Since its inception in 1993, SPCG has continued to build upon the university's solid foundation of teaching, research, and community outreach. The university has made great strides in its pursuit and acquisition of grants and sub-awards. Over the past 5 years (2008-2009 - 2012-2013), faculty and staff have generated 413 proposals, $172,166,170 in submissions, and received 275 awards that total $62,914,868. However, with ongoing budget cuts and pervasive fiscal constraints, much still needs to be done to support the university's research mission and to help mitigate the budget shortfall. To that end, the Office of Sponsored Programs' strategic plan is to continue its comprehensive and aggressive approach to helping administrators, faculty, staff, and students achieve their research and sponsored program goals. As always, we will provide assistance through various means including external support via the Hanover Group, GRC and UNC-GA liaisons, webinars, workshops, and one-on-one guidance as well as cradle to grave support in proposal development and submission, grants management, and closeout.
On behalf of the Office of Sponsored Programs, we appreciate the opportunity to have served you in the past. We look forward to serving you, both now, and in the future. Together, we are one team with one goal: to support the mission of ECSU!
Have a productive year!
