Blackboard Learn

Professional Development

Blackboard Learn is a Learning Management System (LMS) that provides the instructor the freedom to focus on teaching and learning techniques. This LMS can be used in all courses, from supplementing existing on campus classes to delivering completely online distance classes. It is easy for novice instructors to learn and use yet powerful enough to handle the most advanced teaching needs.

Teaching and Learning Online Certification Series

The Teaching and Learning Online Certification Series provides an introduction to the pedagogy of online learning and presents best practices for teaching in online, hybrid, and web-enhanced environments. Successful completion of all three courses in the Teaching and Learning Online Certification Series results in a "Teaching and Learning Online Certificate" issued by the Office of Distance Education and Teaching Excellence. The delivery method is fully online/asynchronous (instructor provides leadership, feedback, and support, but participants do not have to be online at a particular time of day). Each course is four weeks in length and must be completed in consecutive order.

Register now

Enrollment in each course is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Registrants will receive a welcome email from the facilitator on the morning of the course start date with all necessary course access information.

Blackboard Instructor Videos

To help you learn how to use tools, design your courses, and assess students, the Blackboard Instructor Videos page provides a wide variety of short video tutorials. These videos are organized by topic into playlists on YouTube.
