Minority Access to Research Careers

E-MARC

The E-MARC Program will provide research-training opportunities for eligible participants in the United States.  Starting in January of each year, all LSAMP and VSTEM sophomores and juniors will be encouraged to apply for acceptance into research internship programs such as the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROPs) and Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (SREU).  During the summer, all E-MARC scholars will conduct research with renowned faculty at selected T32 institutions. Examples are:

  • University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
  • John Hopkins University
  • Duke University
  • University of Pittsburgh
  • Emory University
  • Medical University of South Carolina
  • University Maryland, College Park
  • West Virginia University
  • University of Alabama, Birmingham
  • The Ohio State University
  • University of South Carolina
  • University of Pennsylvania
  • The Wistar Institute
  • Georgia Institute Technology
  • North Carolina State University

It is a rare and a unique opportunity for students to conduct research while completing their coursework and engaging in academic activities to make them highly competitive for entry into Ph.D. programs.
