Videoconference Center

Facility Capacity and Uses

The Videoconference Room has seating for six participants and viewing for ten additional persons. The room is mainly used for smaller meetings, seminars, workshops, and occasionally classes. The room is also used as an overflow for the Teleclassroom.

The technical features include:

  • Polycom HDX (high-definition) videoconferencing system
  • A wide angle camera for participants
  • Six cameras for individual participants
  • High quality audio speakers
  • Document monitors for incoming and outgoing video
  • Tabletop and voice activated microphones for participants
  • Laptop Computer with Internet connectivity
  • Scan Converter for computer presentations
  • H.239 for document sharing
  • VHS and DVD recording and playback

The Teleclassroom has seating for approximately 24 participants. This room is used mainly for classes, larger meetings, seminars, and workshops.

  • GRASS VALLEY Video Switcher
  • Wireless microphone for instructor
  • Document camera for visual demonstrations
  • Elmo Visual Presenter
  • Color monitors for incoming and outgoing video
  • Video and audio routing system
  • High quality audio speakers
  • VHS and DVD recording and playback
  • Character Generator for text and graphics
  • Desktop Computer with Internet connectivity
  • Scan Converter for computer presentations

Request to Reserve Rooms/and or Equipment

Scheduling of all activities in the VC must be done through the director at (252) 335-3703. Priority is given to scheduled classes. All requests must be scheduled two weeks prior to the activity. Requests made less than two weeks of the activity are not guaranteed. Any site has the right to cancel a program if there is not sufficient attendance.

The VC is open Monday through Friday. Hours may be extended depending on programming and availability of staff. Fees may apply for use of facility. For specific information, contact the Director.
