Welcome to the Elizabeth City State University website. For over 118 years, ECSU has been the source of and the foundation for outstanding achievements. We are extremely proud of our rich heritage, and we treasure the opportunity to provide students with an educational experience that turns dreams into reality!
ECSU has evolved from a teachers college into a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina system offering 37 baccalaureate degrees and four master's degrees. We are known for our outstanding signature programs - pharmacy and aviation. Our faculty, staff and students are committed to maintaining the integrity and value of higher education. Our campus has grown by leaps and bounds and is a reflection of our top-quality faculty and staff, high-achieving students, loyal alumni, and supportive constituents.
In the 2010 "America's Best Colleges" by U.S. News & World Report, ECSU ranked second among Top Public Baccalaureate Colleges in the South and 11th among Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). What a remarkable "point of pride!"Â These rankings speak volumes about the holistic college experience we provide for our students and about the importance of ECSU as an academic, cultural and economic engine for northeastern North Carolina.
I encourage you to visit our website often to explore and learn about the wonderful programs, activities and events available for our students. Many of our offerings are open to the public, and I hope you will take advantage of them. Exciting events and informative lectures and seminars are a great reason for you to visit our beautiful, tree-lined campus.
At ECSU, we are working each day to prepare our students to be leaders and productive members of society. Community service and a global outlook are encouraged among our students, faculty, staff and alumni. Through research, outreach and technology, ECSU is having a positive impact across the globe. As we continue our commitment to our mission, the university, the region and the state will continue to elevate higher and emerge stronger.
Viking Pride! Viking Pride! Viking Pride!
