MODEL Scholars Program

MODEL Scholars are future ECSU Vikings and are expected to: (a) attend all required activities and (b) comply with all ECSU policies, rules, and regulations.

Because we want you to be clear on what our expectations are, you will find highlights of them listed below. Examples include but are not limited to the following:

  • Failing to respect the rights of other students by displaying behaviors such as repeatedly interrupting them, using profanity and/or disrespectful names or labels, ridiculing others' viewpoints, and similar behaviors;
  • Talking while the faculty member or other student(s) present information or express their viewpoints;
  • Using of cell phones and/or other electronic devices during class and study time;
  • Exhibiting overt inattentiveness in class (sleeping, reading non-class material, etc.)
  • Eating or drinking in class and/or the library;
  • Issuing statements that jeopardize the safety of fellow students and others;
  • Failing to follow reasonable requests of faculty members and other ECSU employees;
  • Entering class late and/or leaving class early;
  • Leaving class early;

Students who do not comply will be dismissed from the Program and will be unable to enroll at ECSU for the fall semester.

In addition to having high standards for you as a MODEL Scholar, we maintain exemplary standards for ourselves as your instructors, mentors, tutors, advisors, and Residence Life personnel. If students have any concerns during the Program, we ask that you speak with an ECSU staff member immediately.

We are concerned about your success!
