Rodney Hawkins

Rodney Hawkins, the son of James and Hattie Hawkins, was born in the Bronx, New York. Rodney is the oldest of six siblings.  His family relocated to North Carolina when he was five years old.  He completed his primary and secondary education in the Northampton County School System (NC), and later he attended Elizabeth City State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology (1999).  Rodney continued his education at Strayer University, earning a MBA in Finance.  He is currently working toward a doctorate in business administration, with an expected graduation date in 2019.

Rodney is the co-founder of Evolve Therapeutic Counseling Services LLC, Grace Inc, V Plus R Enterprise LLC, Evolve Outreach of Texas LLC, and RJH Global LLC.  His businesses provide a wide range of services in Virginia and Texas.  He sits on the board of The Genesis Foundation.

In addition to being a serial entrepreneur, Rodney connects and invests in every community of which he is a part.  Determined to leave a legacy of giving and making a difference in these communities, he has served countless Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s).  Most dear to him is his time as the chairperson of the Elizabeth City State University Foundation Board of Directors, serving as a member and chair for seven (7) years.   Rodney believes, “Working for a cause that is closely related to one’s success and inspiring others to do the same is true legacy building.”  Rodney is a life member of the ECSU Alumni National Association, Inc. and his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

As a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, Rodney served as a member of the North Carolina Army National Guard for 14 years. His service included a tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-06 as the Company Executive Officer for the 725th Transportation Company of Elizabeth City, NC.  He personally executed 27 Combat Logistic Patrols (CLP) in Northern Iraqi.  His efficiency in responding to convoy attacks and CLP readiness earned him a promotion to the S2 (Military Intelligence) Shop with the 71st Corps Support Battalion. Rodney also developed the Combat Logistics Patrol Center Readiness Center (CLP-RC), overseeing the hundreds of missions executed by the Battalion. For his service with the 101st Airborne Division, the 71st CSB, and the 725th TC, he earned the Bronze Star.

Rodney is a family-oriented person and is a firm believer that people should strive not to be like others but strive to become the best version of themselves.
