Event Description
The Using Science and Mathematics to Achieve Success in High School (U.S.M.A.S.H.) Summer Program is an educational day program designed specifically for rising 9th and 10th graders who are interested in engaging in unique and creative mathematics, science and technology activities. U.S.M.A.S.H. is dedicated to helping students realize that science and mathematics are subjects they can enjoy and excel in through their high school career. Activities this summer will include exciting mathematics and science explorations in forensics, biology, and chemistry.


The goals of the U.S.M.A.S.H. program are to:
  • Foster positive attitudes towards science, mathematics, and technology
  • Raise awareness of career and post-secondary opportunities in the areas of mathematics, science, and technology
  • Develop patterns of reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Increase implementation of data analysis, scientific process, algebraic concepts, and manipulation and evaluation of measurement tools
