"A Perfect Pairing: Symphonic Blues with Uphill and the Albemarle Symphony Orchestra"
Join us as these two music groups combine forces and present an unforgettable night of blues and classical music.
An award-winning blues band, Uphill was formed in 2005 by Adam Nixon (ECSU class of 2010). The band also features ECSU professor of music theory and composition, Dr. Christopher Palestrant on vocals, keyboard and melodica; and Virginia musicians Sonny Morgan, bass and Isaiah Hunter, drums. They perform regularly at venues and festivals throughout Hampton Roads and northeastern North Carolina, and have recently appeared on WCTV’s “Thinking Out Loud” and WHRV-FM’s “Out of the Box.” Uphill’s eponymous debut album was named “one of the ten best albums of the year” on NPR’s “Out of the Box,” with favorable reviews including Blues Blast, the journal of the Illinois Blues Society. Their studio albums include Uphill (2009) and Carolina Swampland Blues (2016).
