Vikings assisting new students
student orientation leaders
Each year the Office of the Dean of Students selects a group of mature and dedicated undergraduate leaders to assist with implementing the university orientation programs throughout the year. In this capacity, Vikings Assisting New Students (V.A.N.S.) serves as Student Orientation Leaders, peer advisors, resource persons to new and transfer students and parents attending all orientation programs. Through training experiences, V.A.N.S. are responsible for a specific body of knowledge about the University and must be sincerely interested and skillful in sharing knowledge with orientation participants.
What is V.A.N.S.?
V.A.N.S. stands for Vikings Assisting New Students - Student Orientation Leaders, they are a group of trained student staff designed to assist new freshmen and transfer students in making a smooth transition to Elizabeth City State University.
What do V.A.N.S. do?
V.A.N.S. assist with the planning and implementation of New Student Orientation for both new freshman and transfer students.
V.A.N.S. conduct campus tours, facilitate small group discussions, lead ice breakers, and evening activities amongst other things.
