Viking Fellows

Programs

The School of Education and Psychology at ECSU is seeking the "best and the brightest" to become Viking Fellows.

The ECSU Viking Fellows Program began in the fall of 2007. It provides outstanding education majors with a variety of experiences designed to enhance their opportunity to become exemplary teachers. The program focuses on providing additional learning opportunities, scholarship advising, and a support system for students as they progress through their college education.

Viking Fellows participate in monthly seminars, social activities, service projects, tutor in the local public schools, and have travel opportunities through the Fellows program and other organizations that they are encouraged to join.

Students attend special cultural and sporting events including the University's Lyceum Program, participate in American Education Week, and International Education activities. Students are members of the Student North Carolina Association of Educators. Fellows also work together to perform community service projects.

Graduates are expected to teach for four years in one of North Carolina's public, charter, or government schools.
