Archives Visitor Information

The Elizabeth City State University Archives serves as the memory and the attic of our historic institution. The Archives houses materials dating back to the school's founding by the North Carolina Legislature in 1891 as a training school for "colored teachers".

Historically valuable institutional records, photographs, ephemera, and artifacts relating to the University's distinguished leaders, academic departments, and the student body are preserved and made available in the Archives, as well as Rare Book and Gift Collections.
