The mission of the Media Department is to provide students, faculty and staff with access to audiovisual equipment, computer-based applications and training to assist them in their respective learning, teaching and research activities. The Media Department is located on the second floor of the G. R. Little Library, and consists of an instructional lab, a multimedia lab, and the Claude Green Computer Lab. The purpose of these labs is to provide facilities and equipment in which ECSU students can complete assignments required for courses.
The Instructional Lab is located room 212 of the G. R. Little Library. The primary purpose of this lab is to facilitate and support the Library's information literacy program. The lab is equipped with 20 Dell PC workstations. During the semester, priority scheduling for the Instructional Lab is given to librarian-led instruction sessions requested by teaching faculty. Faculty who wish to teach a class in the lab may submit a reservation request; only faculty may reserve the instructional lab. The instructional lab is also available, on a limited basis, for use by ECSU faculty and staff who are arranging training sessions or workshops.
The Multimedia Lab is located in room 213. It is for listening to or creating audio, video, and other multimedia presentations. The space is available by appointment only. Staff, faculty, and students need to have an orientation before their first use of the space, after which they may work independently.
The Media Department contains a variety of equipment for student, faculty and staff use, including: laptops, headphones, a laminator, scanners, a mass CD copier, teleconferencing equipment, a projector, a digital camera, VCRs, DVD players, a digital camcorder, and a portable microphone and PA system.
The Media Center strives to provide resources and services appropriate for user needs, and to devise delivery systems necessary for maximum access to information. If you wish to utilize any equipment, reserve the multimedia workroom or have any questions regarding the Media Department, please contact the Library.
