Homecoming 2016 in Full Swing as Mr. and Miss ECSU Crowned


Mr. and Miss ECSU have been crowned. Fall is in the air and football season is in full swing. At Elizabeth City State University, that means it’s Homecoming and things are off to a spirited start as we celebrate 125 years of Viking Pride.

As alumni return to their alma mater, a list of activities welcomes them, and students. To keep up with this week’s festivities here is what’s happening:

Community Project: Mary Walker House Homeless Shelter event from 10 a.m. to noon at 317 Culpepper Street.
Ol’ Bedell Costume Clash. Bedell Hall Cafeteria at 11 a.m.
Gospel Showcase at Burnim Fine Arts Center 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free.

Alumni Coronation. K.E. White Center at 7 p.m.
Bedell Cotton Club Party. Bedell Hall Cafeteria. 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.


Donor Scholarship Luncheon (invitation only). Museum of the Albemarle at noon.
Chancellor's Homecoming Alumni Welcome Reception (all alumni welcome) 3 p.m. at Loft Gardens, 222 N. Poindexter St.
P3: Pull Up, Pop Out Pre-Game Pep Rally. R.L. Vaughan Center. 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony honoring Daminica Moody, Class of 2002; Ricard White, Class of 1978; and Phil Terry McCoy, Class of 1965 at K.E. White Center. Cost $30.
The Icebreaker: The Official Mixer from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.. at the K.E. White Center. For alumni ages 25 and older. Live entertainment, light refreshments, door prizes. Tickets $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
Club Litty Homecoming Party. R.L. Vaughan Center. $10 ECSU students and non-ECSU students with student ID, $20 general public. 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Tailgating at Roebuck Stadium at 7:30 a.m.
Homecoming Parade starts at 9 p.m. at Southgate Mall and goes down Ehrighaus Street to Water Street to Southern and Parkview avenues.
ECSU Viking Football versus Virginia Union University at 1:30 p.m. at Roebuck Stadium. Tickets $25.
"These Are The Breaks - 125th Edition" Homecoming Block Party featuring ECSU alumni as DJs from 3-6 p.m. at Williams Hall - Greek Quad Area.
Live @ 125 Homecoming Step Show & Concert featuring Kehlani, Dougie E. Fresh, BJ the Chicago Kid at 7 p.m. at R.L. Vaughan Center. $20 Advance/$25 at the door
Black Encore "Masquerade" Cabaret at K.E. White Center at 10 p.m. $20 in advance/$25 at the door
