Economic Development Program
The Mission of the Elizabeth City State University Economic Development Program is to leverage university assets to positively impact local, Regional, and State economic development initiatives. The Economic Development Office acts as a portal for access and information concerning all programs and activities at ECSU as they relate to economic development.
ECSU is actively engaged with local, Regional, and State efforts to attract new businesses and encourage existing companies to grow and expand their operations, creating new jobs and investments. The University has endeavored to align its unique resources in support of targeted industry sectors as identified by the Region and the State. These assets and sectors include:
- Aviation - ECSU offers the only Baccalaureate degree in Aviation Science in the state of North Carolina. Aviation is a targeted sector by both the Northeast Region, and the State. Aviation faculty serve on advisory boards and are available to assist in various recruitment activities.
- Biotech/Pharmacy - ECSU faculty are active members of the North Carolina's Northeast Alliance for Agricultural Biotechnology. This organization is a collaboration of the Regional Economic Development agency, business, government, and education. Its purpose is to promote the location and growth of companies in the agro-biotechnology sector.
ECSU also has economic development outreach initiatives centered on education, entrepreneurial development, and audio recording services.
