ECSU Concert Brings Broad Musical Range to Stage Nov. 10

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - The Elizabeth City State University Department of Visual and Performing Arts will present a combined fall 2016 concert featuring chamber groups and the ECSU Jazz Ensemble.

The free concert happens Thursday, Nov. 10, in the Robinson Auditorium of the Burnim Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.

The evening will open with the chamber groups, conducted by Dr. Carlos Espinosa. These chamber ensembles will showcase small group combinations of instruments, performing works by Ravel, Schubert, and Villa-Lobos.

The second half of the program will feature the ECSU Jazz Ensemble performing music by Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock, and Duke Ellington.

According to music professor Douglas Jackson, “This is a rare occasion where ECSU music students will demonstrate a broad range of musicianship in the same evening.”

The event is free and open to the public.
