While the University prefers that community members promptly report all crimes and other emergencies directly to the University Police at 911 or 252-335-3555, we also recognize that some may prefer to report to other individuals or University offices. The Clery Act recognizes certain University officials as Campus Security Authorities (CSA). The Act defines Campus Security Authorities as: (1) anyone who has significant responsibility for campus and student activities; (2) security staff; (3) individuals designated by policy to receive complaints; and (4) campus police.

To properly train each CSA, ECSU has developed a training module that can be found on Blackboard to inform those designated employees of their responsibilities under the Clery Act.

While the University has identified several CSAs at the University, we officially designate the following offices as places where campus community members should report crimes. While this list is not comprehensive, the following link identifies some of the identified CSAs at Elizabeth City State University.
