I. What is an Installation?
An installation is the formal charging of the Chancellor by the President of the UNC system with the responsibilities of the Office of the Chancellor. During the ceremony, the Chancellor will have an opportunity to present his goals, mission of the university as well as the vision.
II. What is significant about September 25th; why is the Installation held on this date?
September 25th is indeed a special day for the Chancellor, his mother’s birthdate. Although deceased,
she will be smiling down upon her son on this very significant day in his life.
III. Who leads the procession?
The processional is led by Dr. George S. Jackson, Chief Marshal, Professor of Accounting, School of Business and Economics.
IV. Who do I contact if I want to participate in the Academic Procession?
Delegates should contact Ms. Gwendolyn Sanders in the Chancellor's Office by calling 252/335-3102. Faculty and staff will be guided by instructions from the University Chief Marshal.
V. How many CEOs has ECSU had?
Dr. Willie J. Gilchrist is the ninth chief executive officer at Elizabeth City State University. Former Presidents and Chancellors are listed on the Past CEOs page.
VI. Why are classes cancelled?
Classes are cancelled from 9:00 a.m to 12:30 p. m. to allow for student participation and attendance.
VII. Can employees attend?
All employees can attend the ceremony.
VIII. Where do I park?
Parking will be directed by Parking Enforcement Officers and University Campus Police.
