SCHOOL OF THE MONTH - WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
We are raising money for student scholarships at Elizabeth City State University during the Month of February. 100% of all contributions will support student scholarships.

The Tom Joyner Foundation is assisting ECSU by securing contributions from national businesses and corporations and by telling the ECSU story to a national audience of about 10 million listeners each weekday.

WHO IS TOM JOYNER?
Tom Joyner is the host of the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show, which is, broadcast throughout the country to 10 million listeners each weekday. Tune in to 105.3 FM to hear Mr. Joyner's program each day from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

In 1998, Mr. Joyner established the Tom Joyner Foundation to raise monies for historically black colleges and universities. To date the Tom Joyner Foundation has raised $15 million dollars for student scholarships. Each month (except December), the Tom Joyner Foundation features a college or university and showcases that school to his listening audience.

HOW CAN ECSU STUDENTS APPLY FOR TOM JOYNER SCHOLARSHIPS?
Scholarships will be awarded to current ECSU students and students who have been admitted to the University for the 2008-2009 academic year. Scholarship awards are based on financial need and academic merit. Scholarship applications will be available on the ECSU website by December 1, 2007.

CAN OUR CHURCH, OUR FAMILY, OR AN INDIVIDUAL ESTABLISH A SCHOLARSHIP FUND AT ECSU THROUGH A GIFT TO THE TOM JOYNER FOUNDATION?
YES!!! Scholarship funds can be established in the name of your church, family or an individual. If you wish to establish a scholarship fund, contact Ms. Tarshall McCauley in the ECSU Foundation at 335-3011.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY GIFT RECEIPT FROM THE TOM JOYNER FOUNDATION?
All gift receipts will be mailed from the Tom Joyner Foundation offices prior to the end of the calendar year. While the ECSU Foundation will acknowledge and thank each donor, however, the actual receipt will come from the Tom Joyner Foundation.

WHAT IS A MAJOR GIFT? HOW ARE MAJOR GIFTS PUBLICIZED?
Individuals, churches, organizations and companies making gifts of at least $10,000 will hear their names announced on the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

WHAT IS THE CHAPTER CHALLENGE?
Each alumni chapter is asked to consider a fundraising goal of $5,000 in support of the ECSU/Tom Joyner School of the Month Campaign. Mr. Joyner will announce the names of each alumni chapter that reaches or exceeds the goal during the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

IS MR. JOYNER AVAILABLE TO APPEAR AT FUNDRAISING EVENT?
Mr. Joyner will make a special appearance only when the event is expected to generate at least $50,000 in contributions generated to support the ECSU Campaign.

WHAT CAN I DO TO SUPPORT THE CAMPAIGN?
Please share information regarding the Tom Joyner Campaign for ECSU with your congregation, family, friends and co-workers. These funds support one cause: Student Scholarships at ECSU!
