PHSC 370: Genomics & Proteomics (3) (F; S)
This class will cover fundamentals of Genomics and Proteomics. Specifically, linkage and SNP analyses (DHPLC, micro sequencing, 3rd wave), and statistical and computational aspects of linkage and association, as well as automated sequencing, high throughput fluidics, genomics database resources and use will be covered. Topics in expression profiling including Affymetrix chip arrays, and spotted cDNA and oligonucleotide arrays as well as manipulation of large data sets in expression profiling will be discussed. Proteomics is the large-scale study of proteins, their partners and post-translation modification such as phosphorylation, glycosylation, and sulphation as well as other modifications that can determine activity, stability, localization and turnover protein function.
