Established in 1891 for the "specific purpose of teaching and training teachers of the colored race" Dr. Helen Marshall Caldwell School of Education and Psychology continues a rich heritage of producing teachers to serve northeastern North Carolina. Dr. Helen Marshall Caldwell School of Education and Psychology continues to maintain its reputation for excellence, and to address the ever-changing needs of its many constituencies. Candidates enter our program as consumers of knowledge, but leave prepared to begin careers as professionals and/or to pursue graduate education, and to meet the demands of the 21st Century.
