Social Studies Education

The Department, in conjunction with the School of Education, offers teacher licensure in Secondary Social Studies. Students who wish to teach social studies at the secondary level will major in History and minor in Secondary Education. Social Studies Education students must meet the benchmarks set forth along the traditional timeline or meet with the Social Studies Education Coordinator to set up a modified schedule that meets all curriculum requirements in the order required for successful completion of the secondary minor in Secondary Education. The History major also offers courses leading to a Social Studies concentration for both Elementary and Middle-Grades Education majors.
