Department of university Studies
Mission:
The Department of University Studies assists all students in their transition to the university. Its goals are to provide effective academic advisement to students; to offer strong programs of academic support in reading, writing, mathematics, and the natural sciences through a robust General Education curriculum; and to work with other academic departments to ensure that students develop the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary for success in all academic majors.
Goals:
- Assist undecided majors with the exploration and selection of an academic major and encourage the pursuit of self-discovery and excellence in scholarship through our high-impact First-Year Experience services.
- Provide academic advising services that help students connect academic and career planning.
- Provide students with shared academic experiences and the opportunity to explore new subjects and perspectives through a General Education curriculum that supports student growth and preparation for entrance into a global society.
- Provide tutorial and academic support services in a variety of subject areas, particularly in courses found in the General Education Curriculum.
