Archives Visitor Information

The University Archives houses materials dating back to the school's founding by the North Carolina Legislature in 1891 as a training school for "colored teachers".

Historically valuable institutional records, photographs, ephemera, and artifacts relating to the University's distinguished leaders, academic departments, and the student body are preserved and made available in the Archives, as well as Rare Book and Gift Collections.

Hours: Monday thru Friday, by appointment

Please Note: Research is by appointment only. Because of very limited staffing, researchers must call or e-mail the G.R. Little Library to make an appointment in advance in order to access archival materials.
