upward bound program
Elizabeth City State University's Upward Bound is a pre-college program designed for students residing in Northeastern North Carolina. The target areas consist of six counties (Chowan, Gates, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell, and Washington). Two-thirds of the eligible participants will be low-income and potential first-generation college students; one-third will be either low-income only or first-generation college students.
Elizabeth City State University Upward Bound goals and objectives will be achieved through the implementation of the core curriculum, counseling, academic advisement, tutoring, and mentoring program. This multi-purpose program will provide outreach and supportive services to 73 participants. These services are:

of career options available to them;
instructions designed to prepare youth participating in the project for careers in
which persons from disadvantaged backgrounds are particularly underrepresented;
