Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

1. Why is the ECSU Foundation hosting a virtual gala?

As we continue to address the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the decision to pivot our 14th Founders Day Gala to a virtual format from the traditional in-person gathering at the K.E. White Graduate Center. This change reflects the foundation’s careful and thoughtful consideration, and our realization that even with any modifications to restrictions on gatherings, many attendees will be reluctant to congregate in a closed space with 300 or more other individuals.

2. How do I attend the event?

You will receive an access pass along with instructions from us on how to log in to the virtual event.

3. When should I join the event?

Gala guests will be able to enter the virtual lobby at 6:30pm.

4. Why are tickets $125?

After careful assessment of the costs involved in providing an experience that is both meaningful and attainable, it was determined that $125 is a reasonable fee to cover production of the event while generously supporting our students.

5. What is the target audience for this event?

All alumni and friends are welcome to purchase access passes and attend the event, in support of The ECSU Foundation.

6. How does my gift support ECSU?

All proceeds received in support of the gala will be used for scholarships for our deserving students to meet the needs of academic instruction and enrichment.

7. I cannot tune in- how can I give now?

You may give online at Find the section labeled “I cannot attend online, but I would like to make a donation”. Follow the prompts to enter your information for your gift transaction.

8. When I tune in, will others be able to see me?

For the best experience, you will want to use the speaker view most of the event, especially during presentations and performances. You will be able to switch back and forth during the event.

9. Will this be as boring as my other virtual meetings?

No way! The gala promises to bring high energy and excitement to your screen. Plus, you will hear inspiring stories about our honorees and many thanks from our students.

10. What is the attire?

Although this is not a formal event, we ask that you show your ECSU flair, such as that homecoming outfit that you didn’t get to wear but nothing less than business casual and definitely NO pajamas.

11. How do I get my access pass?

During your online transaction, please make sure to provide your email address. If you are sending your payment via check or personal delivery, please include your email address with the payment. Your access pass (link) is associated with the email you provide and is unique to you. Not providing an accurate email address may delay your virtual experience.

12. Is my ticket tax-deductible?

Per the IRS, the fair market value of the goods received is $125.00 per access pass purchased. Only the portion of the contribution that exceeds this fair market value is tax deductible. For example, if you purchase 1 ticket at $125, there will be no tax-deductible value. If you purchase 1 access pass at $125 plus make an additional contribution of $500, the $500 contribution is potentially tax-deductible. Please consult your advisor for how tax rules apply to you.

13. Can I share my link with others?

No, your link is unique to your purchase only. Your access pass (link) is associated with the email you provided during your purchase.

14. How will I get my souvenir?

During your transaction, please provide your email address. You will be notified by our partnering company when your souvenir will be mailed.
