Campus Security Authority Training
While the University prefers that community members promptly report all crimes and other emergencies directly to the University Police at 911 or 252-335-3555, we also recognize that some may prefer to report to other individuals or University offices.
What is a CSA?
The Clery Act recognizes certain University officials as Campus Security Authorities (CSA). The Act defines Campus Security Authorities as: (1) anyone who has significant responsibility for campus and student activities; (2) campus police department personnel; (3) any individuals or organization specified in an institution's statement of campus security policy as an individual or organization to which students and employees should report criminal offenses; (4) security officer.
According to a Federal Law known as specifically The Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act of 1990 (recently re-named the Clery Act), the University must provide documentation, upon request, that ALL identified CSAs have completed the require training. Elizabeth City State University Clery Compliance Center has partnered with Dolores Stafford & Associates with a new learning management system (LMS) platform called dialoged an Campus Security Authority and Title IX Responsible Employee On-Line Training Program to help each person identified as a CSA's or Responsible Employee meet their annual training needs to assist the institution in complying with the Clery Act and/or Title IX. This online training has been updated with new material and requirements, as the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) brought about direct changes to the Clery Act, but changes that also affect Title IX compliance on college campuses. ECSU and DSA strive to continue to provide you with a quality training and information regarding these complex Federal regulations.
According to a federal law known as the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act ("Clery Act"), the University must provide documentation, upon request, that ALL registered CSAs have completed the required training: Campus Security Authority (CSA) and Title IX Responsible Employee On-Line Training Program
