The NAVICA App will no longer be used for testing.
See below for instructions on how to access the NEW Self-Screening Questionnaire that is required for all students.
 
Instructions for Residential Students:
  • Required testing for all returning residential students who have been cleared financially through Student Accounts.
  • Move-in will occur from January 20th – 24th within pre-scheduled two-hour time blocks assigned by Housing & Residence Life. Resident Assistants will return January 19th.
  • Each student will be allowed two guests to assist with moving their items in during move-in.
  • All students must have their ECSU Student ID to return to campus.
    • If you do not have your ECSU Student ID, you will need to schedule an appointment with Auxiliary Services. You should have received an email notification from Auxiliary Services via your ECSU email account regarding this process.
  • Students can provide documentation of negative COVID-19 test results having been taken no more than 3 days prior to their move-in date. If students are not able to provide such documentation, a rapid antigen test will be administered to them upon their arrival.
  • Test must return negative in order to garner entrance to the residence hall.
  • All students and guests will be temperature checked when they arrive to campus (but only students will be tested).
    • According to CDC guidelines, a person is considered to have a fever with a temperature of 100.4 degrees F.
  • If possible, please allow additional time for the testing and/or check-in process prior to your move-in.  This may take up to 30 minutes.
  • Download the VIKINGS ENGAGE App on your mobile device.
  • Click on “Campus Pass”.
  • The Self-Screening Questionnaire will appear on the screen.
  • Complete the Self-Screening Questionnaire and click “Submit”.

Reminders:

  • The Self-Screening includes a list of questions that will help determine your COVID-19 status.
  • Complete the Self-Screening no earlier than 24 hours prior to your arrival to campus as the results will expire within this timeframe.
  • If the top banner displays a Green box, proceed to the Testing Station or Express Lane (pre-tested and have proof of a negative result).
  • If the top banner displays a Red box, proceed to the Testing Station ONLY (even if you have been pre-tested and have a negative result).
  • Students and guests will be given a wristband once cleared from the testing area. Additionally, A colored sticker will placed on the student’s ECSU ID Card.  This is why you should have your ECSU ID.
  • Students and guests must keep their wristbands on until they have completely moved into the residence hall.
  • You will not have access to enter the residence hall if you do not have a wristband or colored sticker.
  • If you cannot make your scheduled appointment due to one or both of the following:
    • You tested positive for COVID: Please contact the Dean of Students at deanofstudents@ecsu.edu directly if you tested positive for COVID-19 and cannot return to campus.
      • The Dean of Students will:
        • inform your Community Director who will then reach out to you to reschedule your safe return to campus.
        • contact Academic Affairs to ensure that your professors/instructors are aware of return date to campus.
      • However, it will also be your responsibility to maintain communication with your professors/instructors and stay up-to-date with your assignments.
    • You are not cleared: Please contact Student Accounts if you have not been cleared financially.
      • In order to move into your residence hall, you must have been cleared financially, tested on campus/3 days prior, and received a wristband and sticker.

*The NAVICA App will not be used on testing days.  However, you will receive your test results via text message.  Your contact information will be gathered at the Testing Station when you arrive to campus.

  • Download the Vikings Engage App on your phone to access the self-screening questionnaire prior to arriving to campus. Instructions for that process are listed above.
  • Prepare to arrive to campus at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled move-in time.
    • The testing process can take up to approximately 30 minutes.
  • Remain in your vehicle at all times (please turn off your vehicle’s heat when you arrive to campus to avoid a false temperature read when being tested).
  • Proceed to the Main Entrance of campus located at 1704 Weeksville Rd.
  • Once you are on campus you will arrive at the ECSU Arch (in front of you).
  • Make a right at the first stop sign (Willie and Jacqueline Gilchrist Education and Psychology Complex will be on your right).
  • Follow the ‘testing’ yard signage, which will guide you to the testing area.
  • University Police will be on site to direct traffic.
  • Testing will take place at the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center.
  • University Police will be on site to direct traffic.
  • Students will be tested by Student Health Services medical staff from their vehicles.
    • Guests of students will only be temperature checked (not tested unless their temperature is 100.4 degree F).
  • After being tested, staff will direct students to the holding area of the parking lot until results are confirmed.
  • Results will be delivered via text message within 15 minutes.
  • If student receives a negative result and the temperatures of the guest(s) is normal, the student and guest(s) will be given a wristband. In addition, a sticker will be placed on the student’s ECSU ID Card, which allows the student access to move into their residence hall and the rest of the campus.
  • Any positive test will result in student’s immediate quarantine at home and not on campus.
  • Standard protocols related to positive tests that occur during the semester will be followed just as we did in fall 2020.
  • Arrive to campus on time and only during your scheduled move-in time.
  • Please have your documentation readily available that displays a COVID-19 negative result within 3 days (72 hours) of your scheduled move-in date and time.
  • Remain in your vehicle at all times (please turn off your vehicle’s heat when you arrive to campus to avoid a false temperature read when being tested).
  • Proceed to the Main Entrance of campus located at 1704 Weeksville Rd.
  • Once you are on campus you will arrive at the ECSU Arch (in front of you).

  • Follow the ‘testing express lane’ yard signage, which will guide you to the testing area.
  • The testing and express lane will take place at the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center.
  • University Police will be on site to direct traffic.
  • Documentation will be reviewed by Student Health Services medical staff and/or support team in the express lane.
    • Student and Guest(s) of student will only be temperature checked (not tested).
  • If the temperature check is normal, the student and guest(s) will be given a wristband (see Wristband & Colored Sticker Guidelines above). In addition, a sticker will be placed on the student’s ECSU ID Card, which allows the student access to move into their residence hall and the rest of the campus.
  • If student has an increased temperature (100.4 degrees F), a rapid test will be administered to the student.
    • Student will then follow the ‘On-Site Testing Instructions’ (please see Residential Students - On-site Instructions).
    • If guest(s) have an increased temperature, the guest(s) will be tested by SHS. If a positive result is returned, the student and guest(s) will need to leave campus and quarantine at home.
  • If temperature check is within normal range, a wristband and a sticker will be placed on the student’s official ECSU ID to denote that they have been appropriately cleared to be within the residential community during their move-in timeframe.
