Please familiarize yourself with university policies that may be responsive to your safety concern. For your review, the university has included some of the policies that will inform you of your rights, expected conduct, accommodations, information about the university’s investigation and judicial process, and other general safety information.
Policy on Sex and Gender Based Discrimination and Harassment, Interpersonal Violence
and Stalking
This policy is the university’s procedures related to addressing sexual assault, sexual
exploitation, intimate partner violence, stalking, sexual or gender-based harassment
and violence, stalking, complicity in the commission of any act prohibited by this
policy, and retaliation against a person for the good faith reporting of any of these
forms of conduct or participation in any investigation or proceeding consistent with
this policy.
Student Code of Conduct
All members of the University community are encouraged to take reasonable and prudent
actions to prevent or stop acts of prohibited conduct. This policy works to address
the effects of prohibited conduct as defined by this policy, while fostering a community
of trust.
Student Policy on Illegal Drugs
The University rules and regulations on illegal drugs are designed to promote academic
integrity and an appropriate learning atmosphere for students, faculty and staff.
To accomplish these goals, this policy provides that the possession and/or use of
illegal drugs is prohibited at Elizabeth City State University.
Weapons on Campus Property Policy
The possession and use of weapons is prohibited at ECSU, except as allowed by law.
This policy governs university-wide possession of weapons on campus property.
Timely Warning Policy
It is the policy of Elizabeth City State University to immediately deliver timely
warnings to the university community in the event a situation arising either on campus
or off campus that constitutes an ongoing or continuing threat to university. This
policy is consistent with the requirements under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus
Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
Emergency Response and Evacuation Notification Policy
This policy summarizes Elizabeth City State University’s emergency response and evacuation
procedures, including protocols for emergency notifications in those situations that
represent a significant emergency or dangerous situation affecting the health and/or
safety of the University community.
Missing Student Policy
It is the policy of Elizabeth City State University to investigate any report of a
missing student within a timely manner. This policy establishes notification procedures
for University students who reside in on-campus housing and are reported missing for
24 hours.
