VC Wordour Plan to Move Forward

It is said that if the Viking Compass was carried, one will never lose their way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known. To protect every Viking as they live, work, and learn in our community, ECSU has developed a comprehensive plan to chart the course for Vikings to return to ECSU.

Adjustments to normal business operations, a renewed focus on cleaning and disinfecting, and the implementation of social distancing have changed how we interact with each other. Our return to campus plan considers health and safety guidelines from state and federal officials and has integrated that focus into the following key areas:

Community Standards

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the NC Department of Health and Human Services advise that social distancing, the use of masks in public areas, and a heightened emphasis on cleanliness are critical to limit community spread. As we start fall classes this semester and return to work, every member of the Viking community should integrate these actions into their daily routine.

IconsProtocols/Guidelines

Wearing face masks or face coverings is required by all faculty, staff, students and visitors when on the ECSU campus. There are only two exceptions:

  • Employees when they are in their private offices;
  • Students when they are in their residence hall rooms.

Individuals must practice social distancing at all times including when in line at the cafeteria or bookstore, in classrooms or labs, in meetings, and at events.

Visitors or guests are not allowed in the residence halls.

Individuals will be required to monitor for symptoms and do a daily self-health check. Before coming to campus or leaving their residence halls, all individuals must check for symptoms using COVID-19 screening information offered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

If any students have tested positive, have symptoms of the virus, or been exposed to someone that has tested positive, they need to quarantine and immediately notify the Student Health Center. If faculty or staff have tested positive, have symptoms of the virus, or been exposed to someone that has tested positive, they need to quarantine and report that immediately to Paula Gassaway in Human Resources.
