Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act

HEERF II CRRSAA Emergency Relief Fund

Elizabeth City State University has received $1.06 million in CRRSAA funds (also called HEERF II) to provide grants to students who have been impacted by the pandemic. These funds from the HEERF II CRRSAA Emergency Relief Fund are not considered financial aid and do not affect a student's current or future financial aid eligibility.

Student Eligibility

Eligible students must meet the following requirements:
  • You must be enrolled as a degree-seeking graduate or undergraduate student for Spring 2021
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or Eligible Non-Citizen

We are aware that every student has been affected in one way or another by the pandemic. Therefore, we have worked to ensure that most students receive relief, while acknowledging that students who currently receive high-need federal financial aid in the form of a Pell grant might continue to have increased need. Therefore, the CRRSAA funds will be allocated to all students in the following manner:

  Grant Amount
Pell Eligible $660
Not Pell eligible or No FAFSA on File $570

Method of Distribution

All students will automatically receive their grant via direct deposit or a mailed check. Our goal is to have direct deposit grants disbursed at the end of next week, with checks going out the full week after. The quickest way for students to receive their grant is via direct deposit. Students should strongly consider signing up for direct deposit if they have not already done so. To enroll, students should log in and self-service to have your refund deposited directly into your account electronically. If you need assistance with setting up direct deposit, please contact Student Accounts at 252-335-3471. If you do not sign up for electronic refunds a check will be mailed to your permanent address.

Students who have a balance due or a hold on their account will still receive the full grant amount. Students can, but are not required to, use their grant to pay down their balance or resolve any holds. Students wishing to use their grant to pay their balance must do so after disbursement of the grant. We remain committed to finding ways to support the Viking Community through this crisis.
