ECSU, Embry-Riddle Launch Accelerated 4+1 Aviation Master’s Pathway
ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) has formed a groundbreaking partnership with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) to offer an accelerated 4+1 master’s program in aviation, enabling ECSU students to earn a Bachelor of Science in aviation science and a Master of Science in aviation in just five years.
Under the agreement, ECSU students may begin taking graduate-level courses during their senior year, with credits counting toward both their undergraduate and graduate degrees. Participants can complete their master’s program one year after earning their bachelor’s degree, saving time and tuition costs while enhancing career readiness.
“This partnership with Embry-Riddle creates a direct pathway for our graduates to earn an advanced degree from one of the most prestigious aviation universities in the country,” ECSU Chancellor S. Keith Hargrove said. “It exemplifies our commitment to providing transformative opportunities for our students, expanding their academic and career horizons while strengthening ECSU’s leadership in aviation education.”
The collaboration goes beyond academics, with initiatives that include:
· Joint faculty research in aviation safety, unmanned systems, aeronautics and workforce development.
· Aircraft acquisition support to help ECSU expand its fleet and training capacity to meet growing enrollment and evolving program needs.
ERAU, recognized globally for its leadership in aviation and aerospace education, operates residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Florida; Prescott, Arizona; and at locations worldwide.
ECSU, the only four-year aviation science program in North Carolina, has a strong record in aviation workforce development through its FAA-endorsed degree programs, drone technology initiatives and industry partnerships. The new 4+1 program advances that mission and establishes a seamless pipeline into graduate education at ERAU.
“This partnership opens new doors for students pursuing careers in aviation and aerospace,” said Kuldeep Rawat, ECSU dean of science, aviation, health and technology. “Together, we are preparing the next generation of industry leaders.”
